My Essentials: Skin Products

I have very sensitive skin, but didn't really learn much about it until last year. (We're talking I break out when the Tide-to-Go pen bleeds through my shirt...) I had an extremely bad allergic reaction last winter, I had bright red splotches all over my face to, get this, Eucerin facewash for sensitive skin!!! I mean who does that happen to?! We think it's the citric acid in products that was irritating my skin (who puts citric acid in a facewash for sensitive skin?!) so I had to stop using pretty much everything, because it was in everything I was using (facewash, moisturizer, body wash, shampoo, hairspray...)

After my dermatologist told me I couldn't wear makeup until the allergic reaction cleared up, I had to rock the splotches to work with NO concealer OR blush.  The whole no blush almost did me in...  But with the help of the products below, my skin cleared up and now, has never been better! I've noticed since I've been using these products my skin hardly breaks out.  I'm guessing it's because they lack a lot of the harsh ingredients that most skin products contain and they are made for sensitive skin.  They contain no fragrance, no dyes, and are free of common chemical irritants.

Vanicream Skin Cream
This is the BEST cream to help dry skin and to keep it from getting dryer. It's also the thickest.  and when I say thick, I mean it feels like you are putting Cool Whip on your face, but once you get used to that, it is the best.  You can put it anywhere for some serious moisturizing.  I put it on my face every night before I go to bed and my face is never dry anymore (that was another issue pre-allergic reaction)  It also lasts for-ev-er and isn't expensive.

CeraVe Moisturizing AM Lotion
Pre-allergic reaction, the moisturizing lotions I was using under my makeup were leaving my skin dry before the day was over.  Since I NEVER the leave the house without SPF on my face, I knew I had to find a good one for sensitive skin and this one, my friends, is it!  It contains controlled-release ingredients that release moisture all through the day so my skin is never dry by 5 pm anymore!

CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser
I also use CeraVe's hydrating cleanser.  Some skin cleansers leave my skin feeling dry right after using them, but not this one, it's amazing.  It's super moisturizing and just overall feels good to wash your face with.  It also does a good job at getting my makeup off, which is a plus.

Exuviance CoverBlend Concealer
This isn't a lotion or cleanser, but while we are on the subject I have to share my concealer.  After the episode with my skin last year I had to overhaul my makeup too.  I needed a good concealer that would work on sensitive skin and wouldn't dry out the skin under my eyes.  I love this one!  It goes on really creamy and blends well, it also lasts for-ev-er.  It also contains anti-aging ingredients, which is always a plus!

What products for sensitive skin work well for y'all?

I did not get compensated to say any of these things I just wanted to share these products with any of you that may have dry skin or need a break from the harsh chemicals in most products.  I would highly recommend any products from either of these lines!

Sea and Southern Style - Sailboats

Seeing sailboats on lots of things so far for spring and summer and loving it! I'm loving the sailboat tops I posted about from Old Navy. I may or may not have gotten them in both colors... They are really pretty and are a great material and look very nice for Old Navy.

I do my best at stalking nautical clothing, but if you ever see anything that is sea-inspired and nautical feel free to send it my way.  If it has a shell or sea-creature on it, I don't want to  miss it!!

(Everything on here has sailboats on it, they are just hard to see from the pictures)

A Few Random Things...

Warning, this is a super random post. But this is how my mind works. It runs about a hundred miles a minute.

I missed my blog's 1st birthday. I knew it was sometime in January or maybe even February. But I totally missed it. It was January 22nd.  Sorry little blog, happy belated birthday!

I'm in love with the winter we are having.  I can count on two hands the time I have had to wear my "winter" coat this year.  It's legit been in the 60s and 70s most days and I LOVE it.  I have been ready for warm weather since October, so this winter has been real kind to me. and HOLLER FOR TODAY BEING THE FIRST DAY OF MARCH!!

So as I'm sure all you fashionistas know, the 2012 fall/winter fashion week occurred a couple of weeks ago.  I always love the idea of the spring/summer fashion week in the fall, not that I really pay that much attention to it, I just know it means people are thinking about upcoming warm-weather fashion.  Which means... I am so not a fan of the fall/winter fashion week. I mean who wants to think about fall clothes right now?!

Have y'all ever had Annie's Cheddar Bunnies?  I am the cheese. cracker. queen. and these lil' babies are delicious.  I bought some last week and won't tell you how fast I went through the box... I had seen them at various houses that I've babysat at (where the moms are mega-organic and healthy) so I'm thinking this must mean these are good for me right?!

and here is one more hair product to add to my collection. I've heard about it for a long time and my hair girl kept telling me to get it and I should've listened a long time ago.  It works some kinda good!

Told you it was a collection of random things :-)
