Flashback Post: Tory Burch at Target

I was just looking back over some old blog posts and came across this one.  I posted this back way before Target really did get a collection from Tory Burch (along with a ton of other top-notch designers.)  and low and behold, the reaction to it was very similar to this!  This post has gotten 1130 views.  Apparently I wasn't the only one who wanted it to happen.  Perhaps the execs at Target themselves were some of those views...

(I totally had to change my original title of "Tory Burch for Target", I was getting too many people's hopes up...woops)

The Jason Wu for Target collection sparked a wild idea in my head.  I'm not going to lie, I never really got the whole craze over the Missoni collection for Target or even the Jason Wu one. I guess they're just not designers I love.

BUTTT...

  Can we IMAGINE how crazy it would be if Tory Burch did a collection for Target?!?

 I mean we are talking people camping outside of Target for days, obviously crashing Target's website, and maybe even crashing the entire internet.  We're talking the Target employees having to go through training on how to handle large crowds of this sort.

 

This would be mainly women. and maybe even a few really nice boyfriends and husbands.

I bet there would be lots of cat fights and maybe even women getting escorted out by security (or the po-lice!) over who gets the last pair of $19.99 Reva-like flats in a size 7.5.  And I know there would be women grabbing clutches and handbags, with that pretty, all-familiar gold medallion on them, out of each other's hands.

"Give me back that bag, it's mine." "No, this $34.99 Tory Burch bag IS MINE."

If you look up the word pandemonium in the dictionary I'm pretttty sure it says "the events that would occur before, during, and after the launch of a Tory Burch for Target collection" 

I'm just sayin', it would be crazy. I might be exaggerating justttt a little bit, but not too much!

Sand Dollar Jackpot

There are very few things that make me happier than finding good or rare seashells/sea life.  So you can imagine how PUMPED I was when I hit the sand dollar jackpot on Memorial Day.  Call me simple, but this could very well be one of the best days of my life!  Below are just some of the sand dollars I found.  They were already dead so I didn't mind taking them.  (I try not to take live sea life, butttt I'm not saying I won't do it if it's rare enough)  I lost several on the boat ride home the first day, but on the second day, I figured how to get them home without breaking them.

I also found this little guy, but since he was alive I put him back.  (He's lucky, because his shell was perfect and beautiful!)

The Most Random Afternoon...Ever

I have been at the beach for the better part of the past two weeks and I have loads of fabulous, nautical things coming y'alls way in the next few days!

This post is going to describe one of the most random things that I have ever witnessed.  You know the saying "stranger things have happened."  Well that does not apply to this... Nothing more strange than this has ever happened.  At least not at Atlantic Beach.

Here's what happened -  

I was visiting my cousins at the house they were staying at for the week in this neighborhood at Atlantic Beach.  

We were lounging at this awesome, oceanside pool for the day.

 We played with my cousin's little girl, Stella, in the pool.

 We got to take in this breathtaking view.

and then my friends. We saw a kangaroo.  Yup, you read this correctly.  A kan-ga-roo.  A real, hopping, Australian kangaroo; that, yes, was wearing a diaper.  While standing in the pool I hear a little boy say "We have a kangaroo in our bag" and, of course, I think he is kidding. But sure enough, his mom dumps her pool bag out and out hops a kangaroo.  I thought for sure I was being punked or was going to be on a future episode of Candid Camera...

Here's a video of Rooby (that was its name) hopping around the pool.  That is me laughing at the end.

 

 The story behind Rooby coming to the pool is that she is a service pet.  Her owner is a trauma therapist that is raising her to help with patients.  I think this is a superb idea, it certainly made me smile...  But this afternoon will forever go down in history as one of the most bizarre things to ever happen at a pool in Atlantic Beach and one of the most random afternoons of my life. 

I told Stella that I am about 100% sure she's the only baby in the entire United States that got to hang out with a kangaroo, at a pool, on this day...

Walker Boutique

As bloggers, I know we wonder about who all reads our blog and who we reach when we hit the "publish" button.  I will look at my blog stats sometimes and be blown away at how the most random post may get a ton of views.  or by how it seems like every girl in the world must be searching for a nautical scarf after I post about them and see that a lot of people have read the post.  This is one of the things I love about blogging.  I love that a girl in Texas might start searching for a starfish scarf and end up on my blog and find one she loves!

All this being said, you can imagine my surprise when I was at market in Atlanta in April and had one of the owners from one of the boutiques I wanted to pick up our line say "Aren't you the girl who has the blog Seashells and Southern Belles?"  I was pumped and floored!  This super successful boutique owner from Georgia knows about my little blog!?  At first I had no idea how she connected my blog to me, but then I remembered I have posted on here before about the brand I rep, JV Clothiers, and that's why I was at market, so she put two and two together.

 Enter Walker Boutique.  Walker Boutique is actually a part of Walker Pharmacy & Gifts, which has been around since 1984.  They are located in Statesboro, GA.  They have an extensive gift department along with the women's boutique and a children's clothing store, which is how I found out about them.  

In today's world we are bombarded by all of these online boutiques via Facebook and Instagram (I'm not complaining!) but I can honestly say when Walker Boutique pops up on my newsfeed, I am impressed with what I see.  Their photography is eye-catching.  Their website is actually shoppable (yes, I just made up that word) and not just a forgotten about webpage like some boutiques have.  Their clothing is trendy, but not too trendy.  and they don't have the exact same things I see from other boutiques.

Beach Reads

I am a book worm all year long, but there is just something about being on the beach and reading a good book that makes me really excited. Here are a few good books I've read that make great beach reads.  If you have any suggestions, please, please send them my way!

 Light, easy read about girls in their twenties trying to figure life out.  There are a lot of things that happen to the characters that I caught myself saying "that has totally happened to me!"

This is a really good book.  It's about two, very different sisters.  It's deeper than just your average chick lit book.

This goes down as one of my favorite books. It's one of those books that stays with you for a long time.  I read it like three years ago and still remember it in great detail.  I don't cry at books but I teared up during this one.  The reviews on Good Reads aren't very good (I think sometimes the only people that review are the negative ones) but I loved it.  It's also about two sisters and what they go through growing up.  It takes place at the beach.  Read it!!

I love a good mystery/thriller.  I just read this book and couldn't put it down.  I am a huge fan of anything by Lisa Unger.  All of her books have been amazing; read them all!

Two's Company

When I was at market back in April, I got to visit the Two's Company show room.  They have always had some good nautical stuff, but this year, they really knocked it out of the park. I literally wanted everything from their summer collection.  I begged the lady to let me buy the samples, but sadly, she didn't let me.
